Rejoice with us! Ray’s treatments are behind us!

On September 20, my husband Ray began radiation treatment for prostate cancer. Today, on the 26th of October, he completed his final treatment, which was treatment #26. We are very grateful. His radiology oncologist told us last week that radiation continues to battle the cancer cells for up to three months. It also takes three months for the resulting inflammation caused by the radiation to heal. As a result, it takes three months before a PSA blood test will be accurate and show how well the treatments worked. Ray is to have a PSA test in late January and see the radiology oncologist a couple of days after that. Meanwhile, his side effects might possibly continue to increase for 1-3 weeks, and then should begin to taper off. However, we are grateful that he is feeling quite good much of the time.

Also, Ray had a previously planned cardiac MRI last week to see how his heart is doing after his miraculous heart surgery in late July. (A note at the end of the post at this link tells about that surgery.) The results of the MRI were good. We are praying for and looking forward to a good Thanksgiving and Christmas and a bright New Year.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and kindnesses during this long and blessed journey.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything
by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6

  2. Good evening, precious Ray and precious Charlene!

I am so very happy to hear that Ray’s treatments are finished, just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas! It is very comforting to know that God is with us through our trials and throughout every day. He provides us with everything that we need, and he takes care of every minute detail.

My grandpa was diagnosed with prostate cancer at the age of 70. He had it surgically removed, followed by chemotherapy. He lived until the age of 94 1/2!!! His cancer never metastacized. He did very well health wise.

I will keep all of you in my prayers!

    Much Love, Leanne 😊✝️🙏
