Remembering That Folks Are Human

Many of us humans hold ourselves to very high standards. I think that perhaps many more of us hold other people to very high standards.

You’d think that being human ourselves would help us remember the humanity—and therefore the weaknesses—of others. It’s easy to ask questions (if not out loud, at least in our own minds), such as:

  • When will you ever learn?
  • What do you mean you did such and such?
  • But why didn’t you?
  • But why did you?

And other questions like those—even of children.

Aren’t we grateful that God understands exactly who we are?

Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.
For He Himself knows our frame;
He is mindful that we are but dust.
Psalm 103:13-14
