Summer Rest
In the photo that I shared last Tuesday, Ray and I were standing on a footbridge at Cumberland Mountain State Park.
Many of God’s wonders were waiting on the other side: a fallen log covered with tiny plants, the perfect resting place for this water snake, . . .
Dragonflies, . . .
Wildflowers, . . .
Ferns, . . .
Rhododendron blossoms, . . .
Blackberries ready to ripen—
Lots of blackberries waiting to ripen, . . .
A tiny oak tree reaching for the sky, . . .
And a resting place.
Many—probably most—of you are taking a break from school during the summer. Remember the purpose of a break. Be sure to enjoy the wonders of God’s Creation and to enjoy some rest. Cherish and relish Jesus’ invitation:
Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden,
and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28
