Surprising Smiles

I recently shared daguerreotypes of a father with his son and another father with his daughter. I found another daguerreotype in that same collection, this one of a mother and daughter.

See their sweet smiles. That’s something you don’t often see in images from this time period. I wonder if this mother and daughter smiled often in unexpected circumstances. The world would be a more pleasant place if more people smiled. I hope your weekend is filled with them.

May the God of hope fill you
with all joy and peace in believing,
so that by the power of the Holy Spirit
you may abound in hope.
