Teeth Marks

Our youngest grandson is like most little guys his age. At eight months old, he spends a lot of time reaching for something to put in his mouth. I especially remember this stage with our daughter Bethany. Add-a-bead necklaces were the fashion when she was a baby. Mine was gold with about five little round gold beads. When Bethany got to the put-it-in-your-mouth stage, my gold beads became cute little hunks of irregular gold. They were round no more. I’m glad. I like them much better with her teeth marks than if they were still round.

I, of course, left the chew-on-everything stage a long time ago. Well, that is if you don’t count food; I love to chew on that.

Truth be told, food isn’t all I put in my mouth. Pens find their way there sometimes, as do my fingers on occasion.

I have actually found that my teeth come in handy sometimes when I am getting things out of the dryer. If I reach in to get something that can wrinkle and something else clings to it, I sometimes grab one of the garments between my teeth so it doesn’t get wrinkled while I hang up the other one.

On a recent occasion, I had reason to grab the fabric of a new top with my teeth twice in the same day. To my surprise, the impression of my teeth remained on that garment the rest of the day and on until I washed it. Strange fabric, huh?

Teeth Marks
The top that holds teeth marks.

Yesterday morning I got to thinking about those teeth marks on my top. We never know when we are making a lasting impression.

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers
in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
1 Timothy 4:12
