Tell Me My Story – 3: Happy Story-Making

Share Now

A few days ago I wrote about telling children their family story. Later I told you the beginning of Ray’s and mine. On this very day, you are writing the family story for your children to tell someday.

Enjoy the silly things they do today. Just maybe you will get to experience something that will become one of the stories your family will delight in for years to come.

Don’t let homeschooling or homemaking or working at home or other activities take up all of your time. Stop and make some memories. They’ll keep your children’s hearts warm.

Family memories are made one at a time. Have fun making them! They last for generations.

As you live with your children moment by moment, you are filling their hearts with good experiences and teachings and feelings that are helping to mold who they will become. Some of those experiences will become their own precious childhood memories.

Your choice to homeschool your children is a choice to live on purpose with no regrets.

I will cause Your name to be remembered in all generations;
Therefore the peoples will give You thanks forever and ever.
Psalm 45:17

When I was a son to my father,
Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother,
Then he taught me and said to me,
“Let your heart hold fast my words;
Keep my commandments and live.”
Proverbs 4:3-4

  1. I am really enjoying this “tell me my story” series of posts. I may not have a lot of stories to tell of my childhood outside of living on the farm but I’ve made a point to make memories with all of my children.
    This mornings post reminded me of my current situation with making memories homeschool my youngest child. In the beginning I had close family members who ridiculed my choice and I’ve even felt inadequate. However, I have always kept the faith and talked with my child about why I made my choice and why I feel it is the best choice for she and I both. At this point, going into HS, she is confident that this is the right thing to do. My prayer is that when she starts her family she will have such good memories of homeschooling that she will want to do the same for her own children. I hope Notgrass History is around for her to utilize as it has been a joy for us to use.
