The Fulfilled Promise

Long ago God gave a message to Isaiah and told Isaiah to write it down. For the people who first heard these words, they were a promise. For us they are a promise fulfilled, and it is that promise that we celebrate today. As you live this quiet Christmas day, missing those you long to be with, or serving and enjoying the loved ones around yo, or living this day with a combination of both, I pray that you will find comfort and joy in the fulfilled promise that God gave to Isaiah because:

Years after the promise, the Child was born to us.

The Son of Almighty God was given to us.

The government now rests on His shoulders. How comforting that is.

He is our Wonderful Counselor Who understands and shares with us all our joys and troubles and fears.

He is our Mighty God Who can handle our every need.

He is our Eternal Father so we have no need to fear.

He is our Prince of Peace in every circumstance.

The promise is fulfilled! And we get to live in that part of history. Praise God. Joyful Christmas, mama!

For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
