You Are One in a Gazillion

One day this week I walked by a window and caught a glimpse of our mimosa trees blooming in our front yard. I love to see them in bloom because they make me think of Mama Sue, my Daddy’s mother. She gently dug up teeny mimosa trees and spread them all over her great big beautiful yard.

I must have been “on a mission,” as Ray says, when I caught that glimpse because I didn’t even go to the window and take in the tree in its full glory. Still I was happy, simply knowing that mimosa blooming time had come again.

Coming home from a walk that day or the next, I got to see our two big trees in full bloom and lots of fluffy pink blossoms spread out over the grass beneath them. As you can see, the sun was shining on them in the late afternoon.

No wonder God’s Creation causes us to marvel. Look at all the detail God put into this one camera view. I certainly can’t number the stars. How long would it take only to count the individual components in this one view — the blossoms with their many silky thread-like pompons and the fern-like leaflets, not to even mention the blades of grass?

And mimosa trees are only a tiny percentage of God’s gazillion creations. As you enjoy those creations this weekend, remember that God used His wisdom when He made each one of them, including the creations in your house and the one you see in the mirror.

 O Lord, how many are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all;
The earth is full of Your possessions.
Psalm 24

  1. Mimosa trees hold a special place in my heart, as well. My grandmother had one in her yard and smelling the blossoms always brings me back to my childhood when I would play in her yard. I need to plant one on our property!
