Thumbs Up in a Church Pew
At church on Sunday, a young father was one of four men serving the Lord’s supper to the congregation. His little girl sat at the end of one of the pews. Each time, as he walked from pew to pew, she stood up and gave him a hug when he came to her pew.
When her daddy returned to sit down by her mama near the center of the pew where their family was sitting, his little daughter leaned forward, looked down the pew at him, and quietly whispered, “Daddy! Daddy!” When she got his attention, she gave him a thumbs up.
No matter what problem God inspired Paul to address in his letters to the churches in the New Testament, he always found something positive to say to them, some specific way to encourage them. Every church got a thumbs up about something.
Everybody needs a thumbs up, a pat on the back, and a “way to go!” A bunch of times a day wouldn’t bother me any. How about you?
Therefore encourage one another
and build up one another,
just as you also are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
I love this!! I need to remember that when correcting my children, to give them a “thumbs up” about something as not to discourage them. Thank you for the message!
Thanks, Stacy.
