Bless Your Children by Being There

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.
When I awake, I am still with You.
Psalm 139:17-18

“When I awake, I am still with you.” What a beautiful way to start every day — in the presence of our Father in Heaven. Before Jesus went back to Heaven, He promised His disciples:

. . . lo, I am with you always,
even to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20b

Yesterday we released another segment of our video series about Homeschooling Without Fear. In this video, we talk about one of homeschooling’s most profound blessings: being with our children. Here’s the video. The transcript follows.

One of the most important things we do when we homeschool our children is simply to be with them. When a child makes a discovery about an insect or a cloud or Biblical truth, you are there. When your daughter draws a picture she thinks is beautiful, you’re there to say you think so, too. When your son builds a LEGO® castle he thinks is amazing, you are there to say, “I think it’s awesome.” When your child is disappointed, you are there to comfort. When your teenager is disillusioned, you are there to give hope.

Your children are not going to remember–as much as we wish they would–they’re not going to remember every detail that we teach them. They’re not even going to remember every single thing that happened on that Disney World® vacation we saved five years to take them on! But, as we live with our children moment by moment, we’re filling their hearts with good experiences, with teachings, and with feelings that are helping to mold a person created by God.

Together. God longs for togetherness. He made great sacrifices to make togetherness possible with us.
Thank you for the daily decisions you make to be together with your children.

For God has not destined us for wrath,
but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep,
we will live together with Him.
Therefore encourage one another and build up one another,
just as you also are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
