Children’s Honest Questions

Share Now

Recently, as I stood at the bathroom sink putting on my makeup, one of our young granddaughters asked me why I do that. “It’s kind of a waste of time,” she said. “You could be doing other things you need to do in the morning, like fixing breakfast.”

I stopped to think, surprised by the question. Hmm… Is this a waste of time? I have wondered that myself. Then my answer came to me. I told her, “Notty likes for me to wear makeup. It’s kinda like giving him a present every day.”

Don’t you love children’s honest questions and how they make us think. There is certainly more than one way to look at the same thing.

So teach us to number our days,
that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Psalm 90:12

  1. My husband is the opposite. He doesn’t want me to wear makeup. He thinks it’s a waste of time and hides true beauty. We all must do what our husbands want.

  2. I believe that is a great answer and shows younger couples that even after many years of marriage and children we should still want to do the little things we did when we were newlyweds.
