Happy Valentine’s Day, Mamas. My Valentine for you is this 1877 Valentine for a mama.

O little ones, where are you going?
“To find where the beanstalk grew:
We remember that Jack cut it down,
But perhaps it has sprouted anew,
And we want to bring home to our mother,
As he did, some presents, too.”

Ah, well, you can search for the beanstalk,
But if you should fail to find,
A gladness you still can give her,
Dearer than all to her mind:
Just this—to be good, my darlings,
Loving and gentle and kind.

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved,
put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience;
bearing with one another, and forgiving each other,
whoever has a complaint against anyone;
just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also.
Colossians 3:12-14
