Look Up, Do Good

A verse that keeps coming to mind lately is this one:

Do not be overcome by evil,
but overcome evil with good.
Romans 12:21

Let’s do that. Let’s not concentrate so much on the evil that can make us afraid. Let’s concentrate on the good that we can proactively do. And let’s think of how we can give our children opportunities to do good.

I know a grandma whose granddaughter reads her stories on Facetime.

I know a sister who serves her EGR (extra grace required) brother again and again without hearing thank you.

I know a daughter who visits her mother every Sunday afternoon.

I know little girls who send beautiful handmade cards and bookmarks.

I know a woman who has sent cards for all kinds of occasions for years and years.

I know a daughter who takes her elderly mother and her mother’s friends on outings.

I know little boys who take their grandparents elaborate drawings.

I know a man who kept up with his mentally-handicapped friend out of state for decades.

I know a sister who takes her sister to the doctor for cancer treatments.

I know a man who helps people in Kenya drill wells so they can have water.

I know a man who sends thoughtful notes.

On Saturday I looked up and saw this beautiful sky. Let’s keep looking up!

Now the God of peace,
who brought up from the dead
the great Shepherd of the sheep
through the blood of the eternal covenant,
even Jesus our Lord,
equip you in every good thing to do His will,
working in us that which is pleasing in His sight,
through Jesus Christ,
to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Hebrews 13:20-21
