Moses had been leading the Israelites for forty long years. Before they entered the Promised Land, he preached to them about how to follow God in their new home.

Moses told them:

“Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I am teaching you to perform, so that you may live and go in and take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you . . . . Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons. Remember the day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, . . .

. . . when the Lord said to me, ‘Assemble the people to Me, that I may let them hear My words so they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.’
Deuteronomy 4:1, 9-10

Among other things, Moses told the Israelites:

  • To listen,
  • To give heed to themselves,
  • To keep their souls diligently, and
  • To make known to their sons and grandsons what the Lord had done.

Then Moses told the Israelites:

  • To remember,
  • To learn to fear God all the days they lived on earth, and then again:
  • To teach their children.

Don’t let anyone make you feel weird because you homeschool. Praise God that you can make known to your sons and grandsons (and daughters and granddaughters) what the Lord has done. Praise God that you can teach your children.

Don’t let anyone sidetrack you from the godly goals you had on the first day you began to homeschool. Refocus. Refocus. Refocus — every day if that is what it takes.

Let’s be sure that we are always:

. . . fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God . . .
Hebrews 12:2
