The Best Childhood

At the convention in Chattanooga last weekend,  I visited with a homeschooling mama I have known for many years. I’ll call her Dee. Since she’s a mama and I’m a mama, naturally we told stories about our families. I loved this one of Dee’s:

Once, when some of Dee’s adult children were back home for a visit, they gathered to watch a video of when they were youngsters. As they laughed and enjoyed, one exclaimed, “We had the best childhood!”

I pray that you hear those same words someday. Here are some ideas that can help.

Believe God loves your children even more than you do.

Exude joy and wonder.

Savor childhood; don’t rush it.

Teach your children to be grateful by being grateful and expressing it.

Cherish moments.

Hold hands.

Invite other people into your heart and home and show by example how to relate to them.

Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Dream of what can be and work to make it happen.

Hear what your children say.

Open your heart and arms to your children every day.

Obey God and teach your children to do the same.

Decide to be positive.

Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete,
be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace;
and the God of love and peace will be with you.
