The First Yellow Rose

For fifteen years or so, I’ve been watching the yellow rose bush in our garden bloom every spring and again later in the season. Yesterday, to my delight, I noticed the first yellow rose of the season.

Ray and I are normally on the road a great deal during this time of year, so I don’t always have the opportunity to see the first yellow rose. Seeing it this year is one of the many blessings of this unusual and challenging season. I celebrated it in my usual way — by taking pictures.

Being at home with your children gives you many opportunities for celebrating firsts — and seconds and thirds. It gives you many opportunities to celebrate your children for who they are and what they are learning and how they are growing. You have daily opportunities to let them know how thankful you are for them, how proud you are of them, and how much you love them.

Sometimes the challenge is to allow ourselves to fully take in how very much our heavenly Father loves us.

See how great a love
the Father has bestowed on us,
that we would be called children of God;
and such we are.
1 John 3:1
