Trusting God to Turn Things Around

God has been sending us beautiful sunset skies lately. Last Thursday He painted the most beautiful pinks and oranges with a surprising rainbow — no rain, just a rainbow.

Last evening the clouds were brilliant. When I pointed them out to Ray, he said that the sky made him think of paintings that he has seen and wondered, “Does the sky ever really look like that?”

The next time I noticed what was outside my window, the sky was dark. I was struck by how quickly that happened. I realized that God does this every day.

God turns the world around every day. It’s night; it’s day. It’s night; it’s day . . . .

The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their utterances to the end of the world.
Psalm 19:1-4a

Yours is the day, Yours also is the night;
You have prepared the light and the sun.
Psalm 74:16

What power! Oh, we of little faith. How can we ever doubt His power to turn things around for us?

Hard things happen to us. Really terrible things happen to us. When they happen, it is hard to remember that God still has the power — and the love — to turn things around for us. At those times, we need to remember the Cross and Resurrection Sunday — the ultimate example of God’s power to turn things around.

For you have been called for this purpose,
since Christ also suffered for you,
leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,
who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth;
and while being reviled, He did not revile in return;
while suffering, He uttered no threats,
but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;
and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross,
so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness;
for by His wounds you were healed.
1 Peter 2:21-24

I also really appreciate you bringing out the scripture in 1 Peter and Christ’s example in suffering which shows us how to suffer well. Wow! Seriously, this is just soooo good! THANK YOU! I am so encouraged!
