What if a mama never told her son that running into the street is dangerous?

What if a daddy never told his daughter not to put a metal key into a power outlet?

What if a mama never told her daughter that when she drives she should stop at all stop signs?

What if a daddy never told his son to treat his mother with respect?

Some people seem offended that God tells us what we should do and what we should not do. I can’t imagine a world without rules. God loves us too much to leave us in the dark about what is good and what is bad. He is our loving Father. Loving parents do that.

All Scripture is inspired by God
and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke,
for correction, for training in righteousness;
so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable,
equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16

One of our daughters was at a park recently with her children. Two little girls in bathing suits marched around the park with beach towels thrown over their shoulders. As they marched, they chanted: “We love God. We love America. We love God. We love America . . . .” Our daughter told them, “I love God and America, too.” One of the girls threw her arms into the air and shouted, “Yay!”

Yesterday Ray and I went to the lovely wedding of our son-in-law’s brother. We’ve known this homeschooled young man for many years. We’ve watched with joy as he has matured into a godly adult.

Yesterday we watched and listened as he and his kind, out-going, beautiful, and loving homeschooled bride pledged to follow God’s design in their marriage. What a day of rejoicing it was to see this young man and woman commit to obey God’s will for their marriage.

The wedding took place in a state park. To our delight, we saw this permanent sign in the same color and style as the park’s other signs.

It appears that even in this state park, people are learning to obey our Creator who loves us too much to leave us without instructions on how to live.

Blessed are those who comply with His testimonies,
And seek Him with all their heart.
Psalm 119:2

  1. I purchased both history curriculums and love them. Then I signed up for your daily encouragements and felt such peace reading them- I save the special ones to reread when they’re needed most. Our journey isn’t perfect but it’s ours. Thank you for all your support and kind faith filled words. I am thankful to have found you and refer all my homeschool mamas toward your sites. God Bless.
