Blessings That Keep On Blessing

Early yesterday morning I passed through our living room and noticed the tall crepe myrtle . . .

. . . outside the window. Pink blossoms filled the large, many-paned, antique window. It was a beautiful sight in the morning light.

As I passed by, I thought about the fact that someone else planted it there before we moved here. It is completely a gift that I did nothing to receive. I am grateful for the efforts of that unknown person whose effort continues to bless me.

Each of us lives every day surrounded by things God has done for us and is continuing to do for us. We also live surrounded by things other people have done for us. On Monday Ray and I drove past a new home not far from us. Utility trucks were parked beside the road and workers were laying new water lines from the road to their home. Each time I turn on a faucet, I am the beneficiary of those who laid ours.

Thank you for what you are doing each day which will bless your children years and years from now.

My son, comply with the commandment of your father,
And do not ignore the teaching of your mother;
Bind them continually on your heart;
Tie them around your neck.
When you walk, they will guide you;
When you sleep, they will watch over you;
And when you awake, they will talk to you.
Proverbs 6:20-22
