How God Handles Opposites
We have a very old memory card game at our house. It came to our house in the 1980s from Current, Inc. I ordered it the very old fashioned way. I put an order form and a check in an envelope and sent it off in the mail. It is a game of opposites: the hot and cold cards match; the boy and girl cards match; the little and big cards match, etc.
Learning about opposites isn’t only for children. The Bible teaches us again and again how God handles them.
Our sins make us dirty, but God makes us clean.
When we empty ourselves, God makes us full.
Joseph’s brothers meant what they did to him for bad, but God meant it for good.
Our sin takes us far from God, but He brings us near.
Our sin sent us out of God’s presence, but He brings us in.
God calls us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
In Christ we are a new creation; the old things have passed away.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away.
When we listen to the news, it is easy to feel weak and helpless, but with God we are not weak and helpless. We are the opposite. We are conquerors.
But in all these things
we overwhelmingly conquer
through Him who loved us.
